Etymology  Morelia: unknown, but possibly after the town in Mexico.
viridis: 'green', for obvious reasons.

Range

In Australia, restricted to Iron and McIlwraith Ranges. There are also unconfirmed reports of the species from the Lockerbie Scrub at the tip of Cape York Peninsula3, but these are unlikely to be true.
Extralimital in south-eastern New Guinea.
